Is there an age limit for city council representatives? If so, what is it? Lets say, hypothetically, a teenager wants to run for city council. Can they do that? Well… Abraham Tischler, an eighteen year old from Borough Park, Brooklyn, is running in the elections to be city council representative of District 44. However, Tischler’s got competition. Some of the older politicians, who are afraid he might actually win, were trying to keep him of the ballot. He used the voters’ voices to his advantage by asking his supporters to sign petitions in order to keep his name on the ballot. He has also created a facebook page to keep his internet savvy supporters in the loop.
I think it would be AMAZING if we interviewed him. I would like to know more about what he hopes to accomplish as a city council representative. Nowadays, very few teens are interested in local political affairs that to find one who is so passionate that he got himself on a ballot is extraordinary.
